“Our law enforcement partners have completed a thorough sweep of the campus and found nothing,” principal Noel Keener told Parkland families in a mass communication sent at 8:23 a.m.
The school started at its regular time. Extra law enforcement officers will be at the school all day, Keener said in her message.
The email sent to the Journal at 6:14 a.m. Thursday said falsely that a bomb was placed in the school in retaliation for the school district not expelling a student who smacked a teacher in the face on Monday.
A video of the incident was widely circulated and has been shared by news outlets around the world.
