Facebook Marketplace sale leads to carjacking

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Police are investigating a carjacking incident that happened Tuesday night.

Det. Sgt. Christopher E. LeFort said that police responded to Mei King Restaurant around 9:30 p.m. The victim, who called in the report, said that he arranged to meet up with an individual to purchase an iPad off of Facebook Marketplace.

The victim stated to police he was parked on Meadow Street when he was approached by a black male, who he let into his vehicle. 

The individual then proceeded to present a firearm to the victim, and told him to give him “everything.” After the suspect fled on foot, the victim ran to Mei King and contacted authorities.

The man’s car was found a few blocks away unoccupied, according to police.
