A Clark County man answered to his charges for a crash that killed a bicyclist.Juan Munoz Alcala was in court on Wednesday. He was arrested for murder, wanton endangerment and driving drunk.According to Louisville Metro Police, Alcala hit Jennifer Davis, 39, early on Tuesday morning.Police say Davis was riding her bike on Preston Highway near Durrett Lane.Court documents state Alcala drove away before stopping at a nearby gas station to call police."This is a situation in which it was raining, it was dark, it's a poorly lit area. He calls the police afterward and says he thinks he may have struck a shopping cart," said defense attorney Steve Romines. "It had turned out to be a bicyclist. It's not a situation of fleeing, trying to get somewhere else. He called the police and advised he may have been involved in an accident."The judge left Alcala's bond at $75,000. He will be put on house arrest if he is released from jail.
