Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible Tuesday in eastern Iowa. Two rounds of storms will move through with the elevated risk for large hail and tornadoes in the afternoon and evening.

Storms will likely be fast moving, meaning you will want to be ready to take action once a warning is issued.

The first round will move in early Tuesday morning, between 4-9 am. Some storms could contain hail and gusty winds, but will be in a weakened state.

With two rounds of storms, there is some uncertainty with the afternoon round.


The second round of storms will start to move into eastern Iowa after 1 pm. If storms can strengthen they could produce large hail threat across eastern Iowa. Storms to the north of Highway 20 could produce damaging winds with the tornado threat higher to the south of Highway 20.
