Marco Rubio argues attack on masculinity contributes to Trump’s growing support

.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) explained that the growing support former President Donald Trump has received from Hispanic voters stems from many traditional values being under attack, including masculinity.

Rubio explained how many Hispanic residents are also working-class voters, and that unlike President Joe Biden, Trump speaks to these voters as well as their values. Part of the shift that Trump has experienced with Hispanic voters, the Florida senator explained, is that masculinity is “embedded” in working-class values.

“If you look at what’s described as a good student, it’s someone who’s quiet, it’s someone who listens to instruction all the time, that’s not boys,” Rubio said on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle. “Boys are rambunctious, they’re loud, they move around. It is a natural thing, it can be destructive, but it’s a natural thing, and all of those things are under attack in mass media, in education, and across society, and I do think people resent that.”

Rubio added that because of this resentment of the assault on traditional values is one that affects all working-class families, regardless of ethnicity, he said that this is what could help Trump in the upcoming presidential election.

Rubio’s assessment on the attack on masculinity comes after political strategist James Carville recently argued that the Democratic Party is struggling to appeal to men in the United States. He noted how the party has been saying that the upcoming election will be decided by women, asking if the male voters could “have some consideration.”

Recent polling data from Rasmussen Reports survey found that Trump’s support among Latino voters has outpaced Biden by double digits, in which it currently sits at 48%-37%. Trump has also made noticeable ground in winning support among Asian and black voters, leading Biden with Asian voters with 39%-36%; Biden’s still leads among black voters, though the margin of his lead has shrunk from 92%-8% in 2020 to 48%-39% this year.

Rubio is among the candidates that Trump is reportedly considering to be his vice presidential nominee for the 2024 election. Other candidates who could be on Trump’s cards include Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), and Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD).
