Man killed at memorial service among 2 weekend homicides in Salisbury

SALISBURY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two homicide investigations are underway in Salisbury including one where a man was shot while attending a memorial service, authorities said.

Officers were called to an area medical center around 9:08 p.m. Saturday, April 13, where Shaleek Williams, 26, had been admitted with a gunshot wound. Williams was later taken to another medical facility where he was pronounced dead. There is no mention of a suspect or an arrest.

Salisbury Police said Williams was shot while attending a memorial service on West Kerr Street at a park, called Jersey City Park.

The second homicide happened around 2:06 a.m. Sunday, April 14, on Old Wilkesboro Road. Alyssa Salter, 21, was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was transported to an area medical center where she was later pronounced dead.

In this separate case, there is no mention of an arrest or suspect.

Both homicide cases remain open and are active investigations.
