If you remember, before Tory Lanez’s sentencing about 70 letter were written to the judge by celebrities and friends who were supporting the singer/rapper and begging the judge to give him another chance.

As we previously shared, Mario was one of those celebrity friends who wrote a letter to the judge explaining how him and Tory both have a passion for music and art. “One of the things I love about Tory the most is how deeply he cares about his family. Over the years we have talked about family a great deal. Growing up without a father I admired that he was fortunate enough to grow up with his. Those conversation revealed how much of. standup person Tory is. I do not have doubt that he will give his last for those closest to him.” Mario shared.

Towards the end of the letter Mario went on to say, “The situation at hand comes as a surprise to so many of us who know Tory personally. I have never seen Tory act out of character in a manner to hurt someone. We’ve spoken on the phone many times and prayed with each other. All I can ask and pray that he and his son are treated fairly.”

Tory Lanez was handed a 10 year sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. Prosecutors were looking to give him 13 years, but the judge decided that he will be serving 10. In the state of California, he has to at least serve 85% of the time so people are expecting that the 31-year-old rapper will be released in about 8 years.

After the sentencing his lawyer, Jose Baez spoke with reporters and shared a few words about the verdict. “We’re disappointed that Tory did not get the sentence that we certainly hoped for. I think the sentence handed down was incredibly harsh. I have seen cases like vehicular homicide and other cases where there’s death and the person still gets less than 10 years and in this case to get a 10 year sentence is extreme. This is really just another example of someone being punished for their celebrity status and some being utilized to send an example,” he shared.
