An art exhibit that opens Wednesday at El Paso Community College's Valle Verde campus seeks to prove the old adage that one person's trash is another person's treasure -- or in this case, art.

Trash to Treasure is an art exhibit and competition organized by the Green Hope Project that asked creators of various ages -- from elementary school to adults -- to turn ordinary trash into art.

The public is invited to an opening reception Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the El Paso Community College, Valle Verde Campus - AST—150 Building.

The show's conception can be traced back to El Dorado High School's art students, who adopted a section of a highway and turned the trash they removed from the area into art.

Trash to Treasure is a collaborative effort by the Paso del Norte Community Foundation's Green Hope Project and Raiz Federal Credit Union.
