Impact weather: Soaking rain, storms expected Thursday; slight severe threat for some
NEWS. MORE RAIN, EVEN A FEW STORMS ARE GOING TO BE IN OUR THURSDAY SKIES. THAT’S THE REASON FOR IMPACT WEATHER TODAY. THE RAIN GEAR GETTING ANOTHER WORKOUT. YOU SEE THE SHOWERS ON THE BOARD RIGHT NOW AND ACROSS THE WLKY REGION. TEMPERATURES ARE MILD, LOW 60S IN THE METRO. 63 ALI INTERNATIONAL 62, BOWMAN FIELD 59. IN MADISON AND E-TOWN AND 60 IN BARDSTOWN. YOU MIGHT BE CATCHING A LITTLE BIT OF A BREAK IN THE RAIN, BUT NOT EXPECTING MUCH RIGHT NOW. IT’S GOING TO BE ANOTHER SOGGY DAY. AND WHILE WE MAY NOT SEE RAIN CONCERN INSTANTLY THROUGH OUR THURSDAY, WE’LL HAVE OUR OPPORTUNITIES FOR SHOWERS AND EVEN SOME AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS AS WE GET A BIT LATER IN THE DAY. COLD FRONT’S GOING TO MOVE ON THROUGH AS WELL. WE’RE ON THE WARM SIDE OF THAT COLD FRONT CURRENTLY, SO THAT KEEPS TEMPERATURES ABOVE NORMAL FOR THE MORNING INTO THE 60S. BUT LOOK AT THE AFTERNOON. WE PEAK EARLY AROUND 67. WE PICK UP SOME THUNDERSTORM CHANCES MIXING IN WITH THE RAIN AS WE MOVE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND BY THE TIME WE GET LATE DAY AND START TO WIND DOWN SOME OF THAT THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY, LOOK AT TEMPERATURES. WE GO FROM 66 AT 3:00 TO A COOLER 58 BY THE END OF THE AFTERNOON. IT’S ALL RAIN ACROSS THE AREA RIGHT NOW. I THINK IT WILL MAINLY BE INTO THE AFTERNOON HOURS THAT WE’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MIX IN SOME SOME RUMBLES OF THUNDER, EVEN A COUPLE OF STRONGER CELLS POSSIBLE EAST OF TOWN. BUT THROUGH THE MORNING COMMUTE WE ARE TALKING RAIN SHOWERS ACROSS THE AREA. THEY’VE BEEN STEADY ENOUGH TO DO SOME PONDING HYDROPLANING ON THE ROADWAYS, SO WATCH OUT FOR THAT. ALSO, SOME MINOR FLOODING UP ALONG THE WHITE RIVER INTO JACKSON COUNTY NEAR SEYMOUR. SO YEAH, IT’S BEEN RATHER SOGGY OUT THERE AND IMPACT WEATHER IN OUR SKIES. THIS AFTERNOON COMES WITH A LOW END SEVERE WEATHER THREAT, BUT SOMETHING I’M WATCHING. IT’S NOT A REPEAT OF LAST WEEK, BUT FROM NEAR THE METRO AND POINTS ON OFF TO THE EAST AND ESPECIALLY IN THIS AREA OF YELLOW, THAT’S A SLIGHT RISK. OR A LEVEL TWO OUT OF FIVE ON THE SEVERE THREAT SCALE FOR SOME BRIEF HIGH WIND GUSTS WITH ANY STORMS THAT GET GOING INTO THE AFTERNOON, I THINK THAT’S GOING TO BE THE MAIN CONCERN WITH ANY OF THOSE THUNDERSTORMS. TONIGHT GETS CHILLIER. LOWS DOWN TO 48. HIGHS STRUGGLE TO NEAR 60 DEGREES. TOMORROW. WILL KEEP SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS IN THE FORECAST FOR TOMORROW. NOT AN ALL DAY WASHOUT, BUT STILL A LITTLE BIT DAMP AHEAD OF WHAT LOOKS TO CONTINUE TO BE A NICE WEEKEND. 74 SATURDAY 80 ON SUNDAY 81 MONDAY. OUR NEXT CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND STORMS BUT STILL ON THE WARM SIDE COMES LATE TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDA
