Man charged with stabbing twin sisters, one fatally, to appear in Brooklyn court

PARK SLOPE, Brooklyn (PIX11) – A man accused of stabbing twin sisters, killing one of them, is due in court on Thursday.

Veo Kelly, 20, was charged with murder, assault and weapons possession after allegedly stabbing 19-year-old Samyia Spain to death in Park Slope last month.

Kelly approached Samyia Spain and her sister, Saniya Spain, at a deli near 4th Avenue and St. Mark’s Place, according to authorities. The twins refused to give Kelly their phone numbers or Instagram account names, police said.

He then allegedly got aggressive, stabbing both of the sisters. Saniya Spain was injured in the incident that killed her sister, according to authorities.

Witnesses, along with cellphone video, were crucial during the investigation, police said. Kelly turned himself in several days after the deadly attack.

The twins’ mother told PIX11 News she’s praying for justice for her daughters.

“I just want him to suffer every day like I am,” Lashawn Goodson said. “I want him to wake up in a cell like I wake up every day with my mind in a cell.”

This isn’t the first time Kelly has been accused of being violent against women, sources told PIX11 News. He was allegedly part of a group that assaulted and robbed an 18-year-old woman in Lower Manhattan last year, sources said.
