NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Florida man who authorities say stabbed his cousin more than 15 times last week was arrested Tuesday in Norfolk.

Douglas Kidd, 47, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of Granby Street, just south of Lafayette Park during a traffic stop, according to the Norfolk Police Department. He’s being held without bond at Norfolk City Jail and is awaiting extradition to Florida.

Authorities say Kidd stabbed his female cousin in a “horrific attack” on April 11 at a home in Davenport, Florida, and fled the scene before officers arrived.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld under Marsy’s Law, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police at this time are still not sure what provoked the attack.

Kidd currently faces a charge of attempted murder.

“We are thankful for our law enforcement partners in Norfolk, Virginia, who worked diligently to help us take this violent individual off the streets,” said Davenport Police Chief Steve Parker. “We continue to pray for the victim and her recovery.”
