ALL RIGHT, KEVIN, THANK YOU SO MUCH. WELL, LAWRENCEBURG POLICE ARRESTING A WOMAN WEEKS AFTER HER NEWBORN SON’S DEATH. SHE’S ACCUSED OF LEAVING HIM IN A CAR SEAT FOR 13 HOURS. WLWT NEWS FIVE’S RACHEL HERXHEIMER HAS BEEN DIGGING INTO THIS AND JOINS US FROM LAWRENCEBURG WITH THE DETAILS. THE EVENTS IN THIS CASE ARE ABSOLUTELY DISTURBING. 22 YEAR-OLD RALEIGH PHILLIPS HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH RECKLESS HOMICIDE AFTER HER NEWBORN BABY WAS FOUND DEAD INSIDE A LAWRENCEBURG APARTMENT. AND THAT INFANT WAS JUST NINE DAYS OLD. A MOTHER IS BEHIND BARS AFTER HER NEWBORN SON WAS FOUND DEAD IN A CAR SEAT IN AN APARTMENT ON BELLAIRE DRIVE, ACCORDING TO THE DEARBORN COUNTY PROSECUTOR. THAT WAS A SHOCKER. YEAH, I’M TO BE CLOSE AND KNOW SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPEN. THAT’S TERRIBLE. COURT DOCUMENTS SHOW THE INFANT’S MOTHER, 22 YEAR-OLD RALEIGH PHILLIPS, LEFT HER SON ALLEGEDLY STRAPPED IN THE CAR SEAT FOR ABOUT 13 HOURS WHILE SHE FELL ASLEEP. WHEN SHE WOKE UP, HER BABY WAS SLOUCHED OVER. A ROOMMATE CALLED 911 AND EMS TOOK THE INFANT TO SAINT ELIZABETH DEARBORN HOSPITAL, BUT A DEATH INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE INFANT WAS DEAD FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE FIRST RESPONDERS ARRIVED TO THE AVERY APARTMENTS ON MARCH 3RD. I HATE TO HEAR THAT I’M THAT’S THAT’S HARD NEWS TO HEAR. I HATE THAT TO HEAR ANYBODY WOULD JUST ABANDON SOMEBODY LIKE THAT. THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE ALSO SAYS THE BABY HADN’T BEEN FED IN ABOUT 14 HOURS. AN AUTOPSY REVEALED THE PROBABLE CAUSE OF DEATH WAS POSITIONAL ASPHYXIA. THAT’S WHEN SOMEONE’S POSITION PREVENTS THEM FROM BREATHING PROPERLY. AN ARREST WARRANT WAS SERVED YESTERDAY, AND PHILLIPS WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AND CHARGED WITH NEGLECT OF A DEPENDENT RESULTING IN DEATH AND RECKLESS HOMICIDE. PHILLIPS WAS IN COURT TODAY FOR AN INITIAL HEARING. HER BOND WAS SET AT $200,000 SURETY, IN ADDITION TO $7,500 CASH, AND SHE’S DUE BACK IN COURT MA

A woman has been arrested and charged in the death of her infant in Lawrenceburg.According to Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens, Lawrenceburg police and EMS responded to an apartment on Bellaire Drive on March 3 for a report of an unresponsive infant.The infant was taken to St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.Deddens said an investigation revealed the infant had been dead for a while before police arrived at the scene.Deddens said the infant's mother, Raeleigh Phillips, 22, allegedly left the infant strapped into a car seat for 13 hours. Phillips told police she fell asleep and then found her son slouched in the car seat, unresponsive.According to Deddens, the infant had not been fed in 13 hours and was wearing a soiled diaper. An autopsy revealed the probable diagnosis of death was positional asphyxia. An arrest warrant was issued for Phillips, and she was arrested the same afternoon. She has been charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death and reckless homicide.She appeared in court, where her bond was set at $200,000 with a surety of $7,500.
