A North Platte man accused of driving through town with a machete made his first appearance Tuesday in Lincoln County District Court.
Jahi A. Dumisani, 60, stood mute to charges of felony use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, second-degree assault, terroristic threats, criminal mischief over $5,000, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of misdemeanor third-offense driving under the influence of a drug, third-offense driving with a revoked license and driving with a suspended registration. District Judge Cindy Volkmer entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf.
Dumisani’s attorney Kent Turnbull advised Dumisani to stand mute in court. He asked Volkmer for a treatment bond when beds become available at CenterPointe in Lincoln.
Dumisani was arrested in early September and later charged with driving under the influence of methamphetamine. Court records say he was driving erratically around the Great Plains Health parking lot carrying a machete.
