NEW STORY: Man in ‘Scream’ costume killed neighbor with chainsaw and knife in Lehighton, police say

Police have identified a man charged in a Monday afternoon homicide in Carbon County.

State police said Zak Russel Moyer, 30, will be charged with homicide in the death of a 59-year-old man in Lehighton.

Lehighton police were called to an address on Carbon Street around 3:30 p.m. for a report of an assault in progress. There they found the victim with life-threatening injuries, according to a news release from Trooper Anthony Petroski, a state police spokesperson.

The man was taken to St. Luke’s Carbon Campus, where he was pronounced dead. He had been “struck by a piercing object,” Petroski said in the news release.

The state police Troop N Major Case Team is leading the investigation per the request of the Carbon County District Attorney’s Office.

Moyer will be arraigned on the charges Tuesday morning.
