STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. - The dog that was extracted from a house fire yesterday was just pronounced dead by the Stevens County Fire District 1.

The house fire occurred on April 11, and Fire District 1 crews responded to a report of a well-involved house hire.

Firefighters reported that a neighbor was outside and noticed smoke coming from the garage. He quickly went inside and called 9-1-1 and when he returned outside, the flames had already breached the front of the garage.

“Captain, the rescued dog, did not survive his ordeal. Our sympathies to both families that cherished him.”

According to Stevens County Fire District 1, no one was in the home when the fire was reported, but a dog was trapped in the house as smoke billowed from the structure.

No injuries occurred. The fire appears to have started in the garage and was accidental.
