Although the boat isn't made by Fiat, with its glossy paint, striking sky-blue colour, replica headlights and windscreen wipers the Car 500 Off-Shore closely resembles the motor.

Inside, it features a more water-resistant interpretation of the 500’s retro dash layout, as well as lots of leather and stainless steel.

It seats up to five, and comes in two colour schemes – the blue-and-white Puglia Edition, or peachy pink Miami Edition.

You can rent a Car 500 Off-Shore in two locations – Positano, Italy and Miami, Florida and is a popular choice for pricey yet romantic proposals.

There truly is nothing more La Dolce Vita in life than this

 Damien DallyFiat UK boss

A special marriage package is available to buy and sees smitten couples enjoy their surroundings with champagne, music and a professional photographer to capture the moment.

But the quirky vessel might not be suitable for those with a need for speed.

Although the Fiat-500 can reach up to 100mph the floating Fiat travels at a leisurely pace of 28mph.

Anyone who fancies one of their own must have deep pockets as the models are sold for £96,000.

This is nearly £80,000 more expensive than a Fiat 500 car which sells for roughly £16,800.

The boat weighs just 550kg and is 4.74 meters long with a 1.7 m beam.

Its features include LED lighting, a bilge pump, a digital dashboard, a complete stereo system, a shower, fog lights, an optional sunshade.

Boat rental company Positano Boats who hire out the vessels write in its description: "The first 500 Off-Shore to sail the Amalfi Coast’s sea.

"Experience “La Dolce Vita” aboard this special 500!

"Perfect for an unforgettable boat ride, a romantic sunset tour or an unforgettable marriage proposal in front of Positano!"

The site also states the floating 500 is "More than a Boat, and no Less than a Car” and hopes it will "inaugurate a new way of cruising."

Fiat UK boss Damien Dally told Top Gear: "There truly is nothing more La Dolce Vita in life than this."

He added: "The Fiat 500 is a design recognised the world over, but I must admit I never thought I’d see that iconic silhouette floating on the Amalfi Coast."
