Woman and her teen child found dead; 2 suspects in woman’s death found dead after standoff, officials say

TOWN OF ALBION, Wis. (WMTV/Gray News) - An woman is dead as the result of foul play at a home in Iowa, and her child, believed to be about 13, was found dead in Wisconsin, Wednesday night.

After hours of negotiations, two suspects in the case are also dead after being barricaded in a home in Albion, Wisconsin, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office said.

Around 7 p.m., the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa responded to a report of an unresponsive person in a home. They said they found the woman dead from foul play.

The woman lived in the home with two children, a 5-month-old baby and a teenager, about 13 years old. But authorities did not find either of the children there.

Authorities in Iowa say they later learned that the 5-month-old baby was turned over to a random Wisconsin home.

The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says that their person of interest in the death was later reported to be involved in a vehicle pursuit in Dane County, Wisconsin.

They say that during this chase, the fleeing vehicle was disabled, and the people inside tried to run. One of those occupants of the vehicle was the teenager Iowa authorities had tried to find.

That teenager was later found dead. Authorities in Iowa said they do not know how the teenager died.

The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office said the person of interest in their case was barricaded in the Dane County, Wisconsin, home.

Dane County authorities reported a man armed with a rifle and a woman armed with a handgun were last seen in Albion.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office stated in an update Thursday morning that the man found dead inside the home was believed to have taken his own life. A female suspect was also found dead. Officials did not say how the woman died.

The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office said they will release more information Thursday morning. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is also expected to hold a press conference.
