Vail schools evacuated because of bomb threats Cienega High School

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — A juvenile was arrested in connection to bomb threats called into three different schools in Vail.

On Monday at 12:10 p.m., deputies responded to Cienega High School for a reported bomb threat made by phone.

The school was then evacuated.

After everyone was evacuated safely off campus, PCSD searched the campus but found nothing suspicious or out of the ordinary.

The school was deemed to be safe and returned to normal operations.

PCSD says at the same time, Empire High School and Desert Sky Middle School also received bomb threats over the phone.

Since both campuses are within the TPD jurisdiction, officers evacuated the two schools as well.

After everyone was evacuated safely off campus, TPD searched both campuses but found nothing suspicious or out of the ordinary.

They quickly identified a 15-year-old as the suspect.

The suspect was located and interviewed.

They admitted to making the threats as a joke.

Upon conclusion of their investigation, a joint arrest was made.

The juvenile was charged with three felony counts, one for each school, for interference with an educational institution, and was booked into the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center.
