National parks are waiving entrance fees on this day

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – National Park Week is a nine-day celebration of everything “parks” which means during the first day of the week entrance fees all over the state will be waived.

According to the National Park Service’s (NPS) website, there will be themed days starting on Saturday, April 20, and will go through Sunday, April 28. Entrance fees for the parks will be waived on April 20.

There are plenty of places to go to celebrate National Park Week near the Central Valley.

Yosemite National Park, according to NPS’ Yosemite website, is not only a great valley but a shrine to human foresight. It was first protected in 1864 and is best known for its waterfalls. Yosemite is 61.8 miles away from Fresno.

Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon National Park, according to the NPS website, are a land of giants and have huge mountains, rugged foothills, deep canyons, vast caverns, and the world’s largest trees exemplify the diversity of landscapes, life, and beauty. Sequoia National Park is 91.2 miles away from Fresno. Kings Canyon National Park is 53.1 miles away from Fresno.

NPS says there are more than 400 national parks nationwide of different shapes, sizes, and types.
