Person killed in fiery crash on NC 210 in Pender County

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A person was killed and another injured following a fiery crash Wednesday afternoon in Pender County.

The crash took place around 3:00 p.m. and involved two vehicles.

A 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling on NC 210 near Woodpecker Parkway when it crossed the center line and struck a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer head-on, according to the highway patrol.

They say the Cherokee left the roadway, rolled over, struck a tree and caught fire.

The driver of that vehicle was pronounced dead on the  scene.

A nearby driver helped rescue the driver of the Trailblazer, who was taken to Novant NHRMC.

No charges will be filed from the crash. The driver killed was at fault, according to the highway patrol.
