(WHTM)– Exactly two years later a double-amputee says she is doing well.

Oni Slacum almost died in a crash on I-83 just south of York in Maryland. She did however lose both legs.

But she says she can’t believe how far she has come in two years, and she gives thanks to the people at WellSpan York who helped with her rehabilitation.

She still remembers being rescued – and realizing what had happened.

“When she finally was able to get me, pinned in between the vehicle, I went down to the ground and I remember saying, I can’t feel my legs, I can’t feel my leg,” Slacum said. “And she said, you know, you don’t want to see your legs right now.”

Her message to anyone facing what she did? Following a good therapy program isn’t easy – but it’s worth it.
