George Michael’s Chart Success Continues Unabated

Following

The music of George Michael has managed to live on since his passing in 2016. He remains incredibly popular in his home country of the U.K., which is evident based on the performance of one of his greatest hits compilations.

This frame, Michael’s Twenty Five hits a special milestone on the ranking of the most-consumed albums in the U.K. The compilation has now lived on that tally for 350 weeks.

Twenty Five marks Michael’s first title to rack up 350 frames somewhere on the albums tally in the U.K. The project has been his longest-charting success for some time now, and it continues to help the pop superstar reach important and notable landmarks as millions buy and stream the set.

So far, no other release from Michael has managed to reach 200 weeks on the U.K. albums chart. His second-longest-charting title is another greatest hits set, Ladies & Gentlemen. That project has found space on the competitive list for 119 weeks.

While it may reach an important milestone, Twenty Five is actually falling on the albums chart this week. The compilation slips outside the top 40 this frame, though the fact that it’s still present at all is notable. Michael’s title declines from No. 39 to No. 47, though it could improve just as easily in a few days when the chart refreshes.

Twenty Five was released in 2006, and it features at least 31 of his biggest singles. Other, special editions of the title come with an even longer tracklist. The compilation peaked at No. 1 in the U.K. when it debuted nearly 20 years ago. It has thus far spent just one turn atop the roster, and less than one-seventh of its time on the tally inside the top 40.
