ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions are back in black.
The team won’t officially unveil its new uniforms until an event for season-ticket holders tonight at Ford Field, but Fanatics, a league partner, has leaked the new threads in a promotional post through the USA Today network. The post has since been deleted, but the Lions confirmed the authenticity of the leak via a pre-recorded video starring defensive tackle Alim McNeill.

Overall, the primary road and away jerseys don’t look dramatically different. There are blue jerseys with white numbers, plus white jerseys with blue numbers, and redesigned stripes on the sleeves. The overall look isn’t that much different than what they’ve worn in previous seasons, but cleaned up with a ‘90s vibe, including with the block lettering of yesteryear.
The biggest difference appears to be in the alternate jerseys, which are rolling black back out. The Lions haven’t worn a black-dominant jersey since 2007, and had sworn off the color all together in their last redesign.
