Family of 14-year-old boy shot in Lakewood asks for witnesses as police arrest 1

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (KDVR) – Lakewood Police have arrested a man in connection to a shooting at a house party over the weekend that left a 14-year-old boy in critical condition, but officers are still searching for other suspects.

The Lakewood Police Department reported that officers responded to 11th  Avenue and Garrison Street just before 4 a.m. on Saturday, April 13. There was allegedly a house party and an altercation that led to the shooting.

Family members identified the shooting victim as Francisco Laqui. His cousin Ashley Laqui told FOX31 that the family needs help.

“The suspect had shot Cisco in the back of the head,” she said. “Cisco is very bright and he is very smart. He is an amateur boxer and was starting to go to a lot of tournaments.”

Unfortunately, he is now in a coma, Laqui said.

“He is strong and very strong-willed and if he chooses, then he will wake up,” she said.

In the meantime, Lakewood Police Agent Paul Osckel is asking witnesses who were at the party to come forward.
