#4 Western Branch 6, #1 Great Bridge 0

Gavin Biernot, a VMI commit, struck out eight in a complete-game three-hitter as the Bruins handed the top-ranked Wildcats their first loss of the season. Seth Sadler and Joshua Wright had two hits and and two RBIs each.

#6 Grassfield 5, Nansemond River 4

Pudgy Snoh had two hits and Charley Higginbotham picked up the win in relief for the Grizzlies, who gave up four runs in the sixth but scored five in the bottom of the seventh.

#8 Bethel 6, Kecoughtan 0

Cooper Burns went 2 for 4 and picked up the win on the mound, and Austin DeBusk was 2 for 3 for the Bruins (8-1). They went ahead 5-0 in the top of the first.

#12 Norfolk Academy 13, Hampton Roads Academy 1

WP: Lukevics (4-1). LP: Motley.

Matt Camardella, Cooper Tyszko and Parker Lesley each had three hits for the Bulldogs, and Tyszko and Lesley and Davis Steadman all homered.

#13 Menchville 5, Gloucester 1

Luke Woodard (3-1) struck out nine to earn the victory, Parker Jones had two hits and Landon Turner and Chance Jones each had two RBIs to lead the Monarchs (8-3).

Peninsula District

Denbigh 15, Woodside 9

Russel Clark fanned 13 and surrendered just two hits while allowing one earned run in relief to pick up the victory. Trevor Foote had three hits and four RBIs, and Jamal Jones added three hits and two RBIs.

Southeastern District

Deep Creek 15, Oscar Smith 9

Brady Drew went 2 for 4 with his first home run of the season, Kam Myers finished with three hits and four RBIs, and Charles Tobler had two hits at the plate and struck out four over four innings to earn the win.

Hickory 17, King’s Fork 5

Matt Puszczało hit a grand slam in the bottom of the first inning for the Hawks, and Jake Cozart was the winning pitcher.

Lakeland 4, Indian River 3

Nick Thompson’s walk-off single won it for the Cavaliers, and Josiah Joyner struck out 10 over 5 1/3 innings.

Non-district

Churchland 10, Southampton 2

AJ Boone tossed a complete game and struck out eight, Jayden Upton Hall hit an RBI double, and Boone and Nyle Shewmake led the offense.

Atlantic Shores 14, Portsmouth Christian 0

Ezekiel Medrano struck out 11 without allowing a hit over four innings and hit a grand slam. Braylon Pitscheneder combined with Medrano on a no-hitter.

Catholic 14, Peninsula Catholic 3

Joe Norman was 4 for 4 with three triples, a double and five RBIs for the Crusaders, and Anthony Tortorice had two hits and picked up the win with four innings on the mound.

Isle of Wight Academy 7, Christchurch 0

Drake Williams had three hits and three RBIs, Jason Chapman added two hits, and winning pitcher Jake Wells struck out 10 over five innings for the Chargers (7-2).

Norfolk Collegiate 7, Norfolk Christian 5

Ramsey Bugg had three hits, including a triple and double, and three RBIs, while Charlie Crenshaw added two hits. Ronnie Boone supported his win on the mound by scoring two runs.

Braelyn Bailey homered twice and struck out eight over seven innings in the circle for the Grizzlies. Mickey Kohn added a two-run home run, and Mya Davis and Addi Casassa each had two hits.

#3 Nansemond-Suffolk Academy 11, #5 Greenbrier Christian 1

Zoey Carpenter was 3 for 3 and Ellie Benes was 3 for 4 with six RBIs, while Marin McGowan and Addy Smith combined for the five-inning win.

#4 Hickory 12, King’s Fork 0

Sophia Avin and Gracie Bowers combined for five RBIs, and Emily Miller (4-1) picked up the win as the Hawks won their 11th game of the season.

#6 Granby 14, Norview 0

Kyrsten Wells (5-0) earned the win for the Comets.

#7 Western Branch 4, #14 Great Bridge 0

Maddie Lemasters and Molly Simpson had two hits apiece, and Kassidy Oneail held the Wildcats to two hits while striking out five and walking one. The Bruins broke open a scoreless game with two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

#12 Deep Creek 10, Oscar Smith 1 

Syd Seals hit her fifth home run and added 10 strikeouts in the circle to give her 100 this season. She improved to 8-1-1, while Alynn Sims had two hits and scored two runs.

#13 Kempsville 14, Princess Anne 0

Ryleigh Rivera had four hits and Olivia McGinty contributed three hits for the Chiefs.

Peninsula District

Kecoughtan 12, Bethel 2

Kyle Salyers fanned nine to pick up the win, and Rylie Francis had three hits, two runs and an RBI.

The Chargers scored 10 runs in the first two innings and finished with nine hits. Nora Pye struck out eight and pitched a four-hitter, and Kate Holland was 2 for 3 with two runs and four RBIs.

G-NA, Shinofield 3, Acra 2, Porcaro, Janney, Fox, Crocker, Becker, Foley; WF, Tinker 2, Keating 2, Dudley 2, Meza, Craig, Bowman, Neary.

Luke Shinofield paced the Bulldogs with three goals.

Maya Athey-Stapleton and Dani Killian finished with four goals each, Addie Hannum had two goals and Lena Harkin also scored, while Kate Hobbs collected 10 saves.

Sloane Becker led the Bulldogs with four goals.

Maria Eckhart (three goals) and Leni Jolly (two goals) led the Crusaders, while Porter Rhoades and Sara Nowry had four each for St. Catherine’s of Richmond.

Haley Price (three goals) and Paige Dowd (two goals) led the Saints, while Ellen Lewis had six goals for VES.

Bryce Jones, Tanner Battafarano, Sam Hosang and Ben Curulla scored as the Patriots stayed unbeaten. Christian Robertson scored for the Monarchs.

Ben Mercer scored on an assist from Aiden Griffiths to lift the Grizzlies.

Hickory 6, King’s Fork 0

Caiden McHale scored four second-half goals to break open a tight game, and Lucas Berdecio and Andrew Hudak combined for the shutout for the Hawks (5-3).

Indian River 2, Lakeland 0

Alan Powell and Rylan Williams scored to pace the Braves, and Aidan Meister had an assist. Goalkeeper Alan Escalante kept the Cavaliers in the game with some challenging saves.

Oscar Smith 7, Deep Creek 0

Julian Villalobos and Chase Arrington scored two goals each to lead the Tigers. Alex Dyzla, Marco Hernandez and Alejandro Silva Woodman also scored.

Bay Rivers District

York 2, Poquoson 1

Peter Hoeher and Jackson Tornatore scored, while Braxton Ficklen had an assist.

Booker T. Washington 4, Heritage 0

Rushane Granville scored twice, Jeremiah Marks added a goal and Jalen Washington netted a penalty kick for the Bookers.

Mia Jones, Addie Scott and Maria Delyannis scored two goals each, and Addy Hennessy scored a goal and dished out three assists for the host Bulldogs, who improved to 6-0 in the TCIS. Sarah Cash netted HRA’s goal.

#11 Western Branch  1, #5 Great Bridge 0, OT

Jayda Sutton scored in the first of two overtimes to lift the Bruins to a victory in a battle of Southeastern District rivals. Western Branch’s Amelia Cross posted the shutout.

#10 Smithfield 1, Warhill 0

Bri Curro scored on an assist from Lydia Jones for the Packers.

#13 Hickory 4, King’s Fork 0

Charlotte Petchel scored twice for the Hawks, and Julia Delgado and Chloe Venning had a goal apiece. Goalkeeper Kaitlyn LaFauvre posted a shutout.

Ashley Groseth scored for the Islanders.

Deep Creek 5, Oscar Smith 0

Emma Swarm and Grace Buck scored twice, and Malia Kincaid added a goal. Buck had an assist.

The Grizzlies’ Katie Dowd scored a goal to move into the top five in all-time scoring for Grassfield, while Ally Quiroz and Jillian Kemp also scored. Sydney Stull and Bella Franco had assists. Sara Koch needed just one save for a shutout.

Booker T. Washington 6, Heritage 3

Leana-Maurie Petty netted five goals and Katana Floyd scored for the Bookers.

Maury 2, Woodside 0

Zareya Owens scored both goals for the Commodores.

Ella Barnes scored twice, including the game-winner, and finished with four assists for the Crusaders (5-4-2, 2-2-1 TCIS). Gabby Chesney added two goals.

Maya Dixon, Keeley Boone and Peyton Gallagher scored for the Oaks in their TCIS win. Lane Puckett netted the Ambassadors’ goal.

Tabb 6, Bruton 3

Daniel Cho won 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) at No. 4 singles in a match that lasted 2 hours and 40 minutes before the Tigers earned a sweep in doubles with wins by Nick Crespo/Neel Dharni at 1, Zain Moussa/Cho at 2 and Josiah Johnson/Ryan Cole at 3.

Jamestown 8, Warhill 1

The Eagles outplayed the Lions in a James City County rivalry, dropping Warhill to 6-3.

Grafton 7, New Kent 2

The Clippers (4-0) won all six singles matches to stay unbeaten. Rainer Christiansen won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, and John Cloud won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2. The Trojans fell to 5-5.

Beach District

Cox 9, Ocean Lakes 0

Neil Vanga, Sam Dixon, Matt Baan, Daniel Ureeta and Kris Katabian won singles matches in straight sets for the Falcons. Lucca Gandolfo won in a match tiebreaker.

Eastern District

Granby 8, Lake Taylor 1

Jesus Small won his first varsity match at No. 5 singles.

Southeastern District

Deep Creek 8, Oscar Smith 1

The Hornets breezed past the Tigers.

Great Bridge 5, Western Branch 4

The Bruins (6-2, 3-1 Southeastern District) got singles victories from No. 1 JP Zano, No. 5 Ahmadou Diawara and No. 6 Andy Cravens, as well as the tandems of Zano/Owen Hill and Greyson Roy/Nathaniel Taylor at the top two spots. They had lost 7-2 to Western Branch just more than a week ago.

The Hawks shut out the Bulldogs.
