Trooper: Nice Weather Means More Farm Implement On The Roads, So Slow Down

Northwest Iowa — The days are getting nicer and nicer and the farmers are getting busier and busier, especially in northwest Iowa fields. And that means more opportunities for tragedy on northwest Iowa roadways.

Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kevin Krull says the main problem that causes the most accidents with farm equipment is the relative difference between the speed of passenger and commercial truck traffic — and that of farm equipment.

Krull says if you are passing farm equipment, you still need to follow the pavement markings and “No Passing Zone” signs.

On a related topic, Krull says after a bad year for fatalities, the numbers appear to be improving, especially in our area.

Krull says it’s good news, but the year is still young, so let’s be careful out there.
