JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) — Over 40 illegal weapons were taken by Johnson City Police after a domestic incident on Albany Avenue in Johnson City Friday morning.
Police responded to the domestic dispute call at approximately 8:30 a.m. on April 12, 2024, and upon arrival discovered the male involved in the incident had an assortment of illegal weapons. Officers found the firearms and contacted detectives to take a closer look at the scene.
Once receiving a search warrant, the investigation led to the finding of over 40 guns: 36 illegal pistols, five barreled assault rifles, an illegal shotgun, a bulletproof vest, and a substantial amount of magazines and ammunition.
DeLove Bennett, 48, the man found in possession of these weapons and the one allegedly involved in the domestic incident, is being charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a weapon in the first degree, a class B Felony
- Criminal Possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C Felony
- Unlawful possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device, a class A Misdemeanor
