The path of totality emerges on April 8. Why not start out that Monday morning with some coffee and doughnuts around Erie that were made for the eclipse.

Two doughnut shops in town, Mighty Fine and Krispy Kreme, will be creating doughnuts specifically for the 2024 total solar eclipse.

Mighty Fine, 2612 Parade St., has taken its regular ring doughnuts and topped them with a special blue- and purple-sparkled glazing.

Mighty Fine Donuts at 2612 Parade St. in Erie will feature solar eclipse-themed doughnuts to celebrate the April 8 celestial event.

“We surrounded it with galactic or the celestial thing and that’s really fun,” said Shari Robinson, co-owner of Mighty Fine Donuts. “That's the angle we were going with, and we also wanted to make Erie really stand out to all the people that are coming here and introduce them to Mighty Fine.”

Eclipse doughnuts will be made for special orders, so contact Mighty Fine at 814-455-6408 if you want some.

Krispy Kreme, 7501 Peach St., has taken their original glaze doughnut and turned it into an eclipse doughnut by adding a black chocolate drip, star-shaped sprinkles, butter cream, Oreo pieces and a full Oreo to represent the eclipse.

The perfect eclipse ice cream?:Blue moon, of course. Where to get yours around Erie.

Add celestial coffee with your morning doughnut

Multiple coffee shops around the area have also created a special eclipse-themed drink or blend to start off your morning on April 8.

The Tipsy Bean, 2425 Peach St., has a wide menu of solar eclipse-themed drinks, including Penumbral Chi, which includes espresso with pistachio and chi; Partial Mocha Latte, which has white and dark chocolate; Totality Frappe, which is chocolate with mint, whipped cream and a thin mint cookie; and After Glow Quencher, which is a mango hibiscus tea quencher.

For those who prefer to brew their coffee at home, North Edge Craft Coffee, 1222 Linden Ave., has created Blackout Brew, representing the totality of the solar eclipse. This coffee is a dark roast mixed with a gourmet Brazilian and Indonesian Sumatra coffee.

North Edge Craft Coffee released Blackout Brew for the 2024 solar eclipse.

“We needed to do a solar eclipse coffee because that’s what the people want,” Doug Baker, head roaster at North Edge Coffee said. “We’re going to do it all throughout the solar eclipse and then afterwards ... because there’s still a bunch of people that might want the product, people that didn’t see the eclipse but want a product of the sort. It’s just something fun to do (because), odds are, we’re never again going to see a full solar eclipse in our lifetime."
