Borussia Dortmund made it to the Champions League semi-finals, after beating Atletico Madrid 4-2 at home, turning around a 2-1 loss in the first leg to win 5-4 overall.
Dortmund's Marcel Sabitzer almost scored in the third minute, but Atletico's Cesar Azpilicueta blocked it just in time. But Dortmund were not backing down. Julian Brandt scored in the 34th minute, thanks to a great assist from Mats Hummels. His goal levelled the aggregate score.
Five minutes later, Ian Maatsen put Dortmund ahead with a well-aimed shot. With the goal, the stadium at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund erupted with cheers as Dortmund took control of the quarter-final tie.
Atletico were not going down without a fight. Diego Simeone's halftime substitutions paid off, with Atletico striking back early in the second half. Hummels accidentally scored an own goal, and Angel Correa put Atletico back in the lead.
But Dortmund had the last word. Niclas Fuellkrug equalised with a header in the 74th minute. And then, the moment of the match - Sabitzer scored the winning goal just three minutes later, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
Dortmund emerged victorious with a 4-2 win, securing their spot in the Champions League semifinals.
