ATLANTIC CITY — A city man was arrested last week one day after he assaulted a woman with a gun and stole her cellphone, police said Thursday.
Ronald Johnson, 40, was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone, certain person not to possess a weapon and being a fugitive from justice.Â
On April 11, Johnson was alleged to have assaulted a female acquaintance by striking her with a handgun and kicking her multiple times while she was on the ground. He demanded money from her and threatened her life before fleeing with a cellphone, police said in a news release. The woman was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, with injuries that were not life threatening.

The next day, officers Anthony Nastasi and Nickolas Cardani saw Johnson in the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue. A wanted warrant had been out for the April 11 robbery.
Johnson was arrested and found in possession of a loaded handgun and 15 bags of heroin, police said. He also was found to have a warrant out of York, Pennsylvania.Â
He is being held at the Atlantic County jail.
