Raiders NFL Draft Prospect: TE/FB Jaheim Bell

The Las Vegas Raiders might want to draft a fullback in the 2024 NFL Draft, depending on fullback Jakob Johnson's future with the team.

The Las Vegas Raiders know what positions they need to address in this year's NFL Draft, but once the last half of Day 3 approaches, anything might go.

A position the Raiders should consider at that point is fullback, a role the franchise has been accustomed to utilizing throughout its history. Raiders fullback Jakob Johnson is an unrestricted free agent, and the club even waived him back in November before re-signing him just days later.

One fullback prospect who should be on the board still when the final three rounds come around is Jaheim Bell, who primarily played tight end in college.

Bell finished the 2023 season with 503 yards and two touchdowns on 39 receptions in 13 games (nine starts). He added a rushing touchdown as well. Bell was named to the All-ACC Second Team.

Pro Football Focus gave Bell an overall grade of 73.4, a run-block grade of 64.0 and a pass-block grade of 51.8 for his 2023 campaign.

Bell transferred to Florida State from South Carolina, where he played three seasons, making 11 starts in 30 games. He totaled 757 receiving yards, seven receiving touchdowns, 301 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns as a member of the Gamecocks.

At this year's NFL Combine, Bell recorded a 40-yard-dash time of 4.61 seconds, a 10-yard-split time of 1.58 seconds, a vertical jump of 35 inches and a broad jump of 10-feet-4-inches.

NFL Next Gen Stats gave Bell a total score of 76 for his Combine outing, which ranked fifth among tight ends in his draft class. He also received an athleticism score of 84 (fifth among tight ends) and a production score of 73 (sixth among tight ends).

The following is NFL analyst Lance Zierlein's evaluation of the 6-foot-3, 241-pound tight end:

"Undersized as a tight end and lacking instincts as a lead blocker out of the backfield, Bell is a player without a clean positional fit after playing all over the field at South Carolina and Florida State. When Bell centers in and locks up, he can be an effective blocker, but he is wildly inconsistent when asked to make blocks on the move in space. He's tight-hipped, but he does have the speed to run the seams and is a talented runner after the catch. He might need to find a modified gadget role and really show out on special teams to make a squad."

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
