Police ID person who fired shots in apparent road rage incident that left 1 dead
Police said they have identified the person accused of firing shots during an apparent road rage incident that left one person dead in Middletown.
Officers were first dispatched Tuesday around 11:50 p.m. to the area of Manchester Avenue and Verity Parkway for a report of two cars that were involved in a road rage incident.
"They almost hit me. It was a car and a truck. The truck was behind him. It was a white Chevy extended cab truck, and he rammed him, and then I heard gunshots as soon as I turned," a man who called 911 said. "The truck hit the car and then gunshots went off."
The driver of the pickup then crashed into a pole in front of the Eagles Lodge.
"The subject did die from a gunshot wound to his neck. Right now, we're still confirming, but looks like there were bullets being fired into the car from the rear and front," Eric Crank, acting Middletown Police Chief, said.
The 26-year-old male victim later died on the scene.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Section later located the other vehicle involved and the vehicle's driver.
Middletown police said another subject has been identified as the person who fired the weapon.
Police have not released any names or said if either have been arrested at this time.
The investigation is still ongoing, police said.
