Jack Black

Jack Black (born Aug. 28, 1969), an American comedian and actor, has won an Emmy Award and been nominated for three Golden Globe awards. Also a musician, he is the lead vocalist for the Grammy-winning comedy rock band Tenacious D. Black is best known for his roles in films including “School of Rock,” “Tropic Thunder” and “Nacho Libre,” as well as for voicing animated films such as the “Kung Fu Panda” series and “Ice Age,” Born in Santa Monica, Calif., he joined started his career by joining the Actors Gang and started appearing in stage productions. After some guest roles on television shows, he appeared in Tim Robbins’ film “Bob Roberts.” Small roles followed in films such as “The Cable Guy” and “Dead Man Walking” before he gained more attention starting in 2000 with his co-starring role in “High Fidelity” and then going on to lead roles in “Shallow Hal,” “The Holiday,” “Nacho Libre” and “Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny.” He earned a Golden Globe nomination for his role as a rocking substitute teacher in Richard Linklater’s "School of Rock” and returned to collaborate with the director on “Bernie.” Black also made numerous television appearances on shows including “Community” and “iCarly.” Black joined another successful franchise, starring in “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” and returning for “Jumanji: The Next Level” in 2019. He ramped up his voice work with roles in the series “Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight,” “Rick and Morty,” “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” and “Kung Fu Panda 4.” After appearing as Captain Bombardier in “The Mandalorian,” Black will star as Steve in “Minecraft” in 2025. Together with his sons, Black runs the popular YouTube channel JablinskiGames which features content on gaming as well as candid videos about his life.
