ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Four people were arrested amid an investigation into car thefts at the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says there have been nine vehicles stolen from the airport since the beginning of the year. Eight of the cars were rental cars and one belonged to an employee. The most recent theft happened on March 16, 2024.

Deputies arrested four people in connection to these thefts — they said 33-year-old Breanna Brummond, 32-year-old Nicholas Morales, and 43-year-old Esu Edwards used these cars during larcenies and robberies in Rochester and Irondequoit.

All three suspects were charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property. A fourth person was arrested, but the identity and any charges have not been released.

Andy Moore, the Airport Director, released a statement saying they are not any recent thefts since they implemented new security measures:

“Airport administration and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office have been working with our rental car tenants to improve security and address concerns in the rental car parking areas due to a rash of rental car thefts earlier this year.

As a result, there have been no recent rental car thefts since implementing these new security measures.

The Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport prioritizes the safety and security of our passengers and visitors, and will continue to work with our law enforcement partners and security team to ensure these goals are met.”

MCSO says they are working with the airport and the rental car companies to prevent these thefts from happening.
