A Lueders man is in jail charged with two counts of attempted capital murder.

77-year-old Johnnie Barnett was arrested and booked into the Shackelford County Jail on two counts of attempted capital murder of a peace officer or a fireman.

The Shackelford County Sheriff's Office said on March 27th Sheriff Edward Miller tried to pull Barnett over for a welfare check.

They said when the sheriff tried to get him out of the car Barnett fought back and ended up dragging the sheriff 110 feet.

They said a deputy was also involved.
