HOUSTON (KIAH) — Today, we are remembering Selena Quintanilla and her legacy in our state. She remains one of the greatest Latino artists of all time and is credited for catapulting the Tejano genre into the mainstream music market.

Selena was born on April 16-th of 1971. In 1992 she released a breakthrough album, which peaked at number one on the U.S. billboard regional Mexican albums chart and sold more than 300,000 copies.
