TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A Flint man received probation Tuesday after he was a subject in a Smith County sting operation last year.

Charles McLarty III, 76, was one of six men arrested via sting operations set up by law enforcement officers with the attorney general’s office in January of 2023. McLarty was charged with solicit prostitution with a person under 18 and booked into the Smith County Jail on Jan. 26, 2023. On Tuesday, McLarty pleaded guilty in Judge Taylor Heaton’s court and was given two years deferred probation for an amended charge of solicitation of prostitution.

The other suspects arrested include Jose Hernandez, 38, of Tyler; Matthew Organ, 45, of Whitehouse; Delano Roosevelt Phelps, 90, of Tyler; James Amos, 55, of Flint; and Monterrey Lobo, of Jacksonville.

Hernandez and Amos were given two years deferred adjudication on Dec. 4, 2023. Organ received five years deferred adjudication on the same day. Phelps received two years deferred adjudication on Jan. 8.
