York is home to the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center, which brings many nationally acclaimed acts to the York area. Much of York's culture represents the city's evolving role as an agricultural and industrial center. The historic York Fair, which claims to be the country's oldest, traces its roots to 1765.
