SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Schenectady Department of Utilities announced an upcoming road closure. Starting on April 22, Eastern Avenue between Columbia Street and Elmer Avenue will be closed to traffic in both directions.

The closure is due to work being done on the new Elmer Gardens that will require the use of a crane. Construction is expected to last for five days.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes while the closure is in place. Traffic in the area will be detoured to Union Street.
