Off-Broadway Musical Spoofs Five Women In Donald Trump’s Life

Following

What could be a more appropriate time than now for an off-Broadway musical spoofing the many women in Donald Trump’s life?

FIVE: The Parody Musical not only emulates the Broadway musical SIX, about the six ex-wives of King Henry VIII, but, more relevantly, satirizes the women it describes as “Ivana, Marla, Melania, Stormy, Ivanka, divorced, her-larious, uncensored.”

According to a press release about the new musical, “Henry VIII and his six wives had nothing on Donald, the 45th, and these five ladies. Poised to make American laugh again, FIVE is an irreverent musical comedy revue starring some of the women in the life of America’s past (and hopefully not future) President.

“Ivana, Marla and Melania are joined by crowd favorite Stormy and daddy’s girl Ivanka as they each take the spotlight and sing their hearts out for your vote.”

Creators of the musical’s book and lyrics, Shimmy Braun and Moshiel Newman Daphna, said, “The lightbulb moment came right after we saw SIX. Who else can easily fight the battle of who had it the worst? And so was born FIVE: The Parody Musical, a primary held by the women in the life of our loathsome 45th president. It is a parody that, at last, gives these women their moment in the limelight and a chance to ‘grab back.’”

With music and lyrics by Billy Recce, FIVE: The Parody Musical stars Anyae Anasia as Ivana; Gabriella Joy Rodriguez as Marla; Jamie Lyn Beatty as Melania; Gabi Garcia as Stormy; and Hannah Bonnett as Ivanka.

In an interview with Forbes at the press preview for FIVE, Michael Cohen, Trump’s former attorney—who spent over a year in federal prison after pleading guilty to tax evasion, lying to Congress and violations of campaign finance law, when he made a hush-money payment to Daniels immediately before the 2016 Presidential election—said that anyone else facing four indictments and 91 criminal counts, as Trump currently does, would “already have been convicted, already serving time. The fact that he’s using the Presidency as a shield for prosecution is only a stall tactic, it’s a delay tactic.

“But as we always say, the wheels of justice turn slowly but they ultimately come full circle,” he added.

Asked how these charges might affect Americans’ willingness to reelect Trump, Cohen said he is a “firm believer that Americans are a lot smarter than the media is giving them credit for. I believe that when a citizen of this country, regardless of a Republican, Democrat or independent, that when they are alone in the voting booth making a decision, they will always vote democracy over autocracy. The Republican party stands right now for autocracy, the Democratic party for democracy. There’s nothing that we should cherish more than democracy, and I believe the American citizens feel the same way.”

FIVE: The Parody Musical will be performed through April 21 at Theater 555 in New York.
