RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Richmond man convicted for a quadruple shooting that took the lives of two children will find out his fate in a sentencing hearing Friday.

Zayon Everett was convicted of seven charges, including two counts of first-degree murder for the deadly shooting incident on Nov. 12, 2021.

At 7:30 p.m. that night, Richmond Police officers were called to the O.M.G Convenience store at the intersection of Creighton Road and Nine Mile Road for a report of a shooting.

There, officers found four people had been shot. Two boys had been killed and two adults were injured but were taken to the hospital and survived.

Nine-year-old Abdul Bani-Ahmad and 14-year-old Rah’quan Logan were identified as the children who had been shot.

Rah’quan Logan, 14 (Left) and Abdul Bani-Ahmad, 9 (Right) were killed in the shooting, while two other adults were later transported to the hospital then listed in stable condition.

Days after the incident, three suspects were arrested in connection to the shooting — Clintoine Baker, Kalah Mangram and Javon Pegram. Mangram and Pegram were juveniles at the time of the incident, each 17-years-old. Baker was 18.

Everett was charged in connection to the matter on June 29, 2022 according to court records.

Mangram and Pegram were sentenced for their involvement on Jan. 10, 2024. Mangram was sentenced to 55 years as one of the active shooters and Pegram to 47 years as the driver of the shooting vehicle involved.

Everett is due in Richmond City Circuit Court at noon on Friday, April 19.

Baker is scheduled to appear in court for a jury trial May 21.
