Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend calls her ‘my GOAT’ after Iowa’s season ends

Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, sent her a sweet message after the Iowa star point guard and the Hawkeyes came up short against the South Carolina Gamecocks in Sunday’s NCAA Women’s Tournament championship game.

Taking to his Instagram Story, McCaffrey reposted a photo of Clark exiting the court for final time in her collegiate career with the caption: “My GOAT.”

McCaffrey — a former member of Iowa’s men’s basketball team and the son of Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery — included two red heart emojis and a emoji of a heart gesture, which became Clark’s signature move on the court during her senior season.

Clark, who is the consensus No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, reposted the message on her Instagram Story.

It’s unclear when exactly Clark and McCaffrey got together.

Clark went public with their relationship when she shared photos of the couple on a boat together in August 2023.

“Best end to summer,” Clark wrote at the time, including a black heart emoji.

McCaffrey was a constant in publicly supporting Clark through March Madness 2024.

The 22-year-old Iowa native finished with 30 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the Hawkeyes’ 87-75 loss to South Carolina.

Clark, who is the NCAA Division I all-time scoring leader, set another record in the 2024 title game with 18 points in the first quarter, which was the most in a period in the national championship game.

She only scored 12 point in the final 30 minutes of the game due to South Carolina’s defense and Gamecocks point guard Raven Johnson — who limited Clark to just seven points on 27 percent shooting while guarding her.

Prior to Sunday’s championship game, Johnson said the matchup was “personal” after last year’s Final Four upset by the Hawkeyes.

Johnson also said she felt “hurt” when Clark waved her off during last year’s game while guarding her at the top of the key.

“All I have to say is: The revenge tour is over,” the sophomore guard told ESPN’s Holly Rowe after the Gamecocks took down the Hawkeyes on Sunday.

Clark is likely headed to Indiana as the Fever own the No. 1 pick in the draft, which will take place at the Brooklyn Academy of Music April 15.
