One man dead, 14-year-old injured after vehicle hits tree in Wisconsin

OAK CREEK, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in southern Wisconsin say one man is dead and a 14-year-old is in the hospital after a vehicle crashed into a tree Saturday afternoon.

According to a release from the Oak Creek Police Department, officers responded at 3:42 p.m. to the 300 block of West Oakwood Road for a reported crash.

Once on scene, officers say they determined that a vehicle was heading west on West Oakwood Road when it left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The driver of the vehicle, 53-year-old James M. Kielma from Oak Creek, was pronounced dead and a 14-year-old passenger was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries.

In an updated release, Police say the identity of the 14-year-old is not being released, however, their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening and they remain in stable condition at the hospital.

At this time, speed is believed to be a factor in the crash and an investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
