A SUSPECT ACCUSED OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS DEAD AFTER LIGHTING A HOME ON FIRE AND BARRICADING HIMSELF INSIDE. IT HAPPENED OFF OF OUR LEOTA COURT NEAR HIGHWAY 99. THAT IS WHERE WE FIND OUR OWN MELANIE WINGO. WITH AN UPDATE FROM AUTHORITIES. GOOD MORNING. WELL, AS YOU CAN SEE BEHIND ME, SOME CONTRACT CREWS ARE WORKING RIGHT NOW TO BOARD UP THIS HOME WHERE THE FIRE HAPPENED. AND THIS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INCIDENT HAPPENED OVERNIGHT. WE DO WANT TO SHOW YOU SOME VIDEO WE RECEIVED FROM SACRAMENTO METRO FIRE. AFTER THEY RESPOND TO THIS INCIDENT. IT ALL STARTED AROUND MIDNIGHT WHEN THE SACRAMENTO COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE GOT A CALL ABOUT A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INCIDENT OUT HERE. DEPUTIES ARRIVED, MANAGED TO GET THE VICTIM AND SOME OTHER GUESTS AND FAMILY MEMBERS OUT OF THE HOME. THE VICTIM, ACCORDING TO THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE, HAD SOME MINOR INJURIES, BUT THEN THEY TRIED TO GET THE SUSPECT OUT. THAT SUSPECT REFUSED TO COME OUT. THEY TRIED TO NEGOTIATE WITH HIM FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND HAD SOME COMMUNICATION WITH HIM. BUT THEN THEIR DIALOG BROKE DOWN AND THE MAN REFUSED TO COME OUT AND THEN SET THE HOUSE ON FIRE. DEPUTIES ACTUALLY TRIED WITH TWO K-9 UNITS AND SEVERAL OTHER DEPUTIES TRIED TO ACTUALLY BREAK ENTRY TO GET HIM OUT, BUT UNFORTUNATELY WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. THE FIRE AND EVERYTHING GOT TOO HOT AND AGAIN, HE WASN’T COOPERATING TO COME OUT AND WE COULDN’T ACCESS ACCESS HIM. SO. AN AIDE BACK OUT HERE LIVE. WE DID HEAR FROM SACRAMENTO METRO FIRE. THEY DID TRY TO PULL THE THE SUSPECT OUT. THEY TRIED CPR AND THEN TOOK HIM TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE WE ARE TOLD BY SAC METRO FIRE THAT THAT SUSPECT DIED AT THE HOSPITAL. STILL, THE INVESTIGATION HERE AT THE HOUSE IS WRAPPING UP AND IT WILL CONTINUE AS THE VICTIM IS INTERVIEWED AND SOME OF THE WITNESSES ARE INTERVIEWED. BUT AGAIN, THAT SUSPECT DID DIE IN ALL OF THIS. THE VICTIM IS OKAY THIS MORNING THOUGH, REPORTING LIVE IN SACRAMENTO COUNTY, MELANIE WINGO KCRA THREE NEWS. ALL RIGHT MELANIE THANK YOU. BY THE WAY. IT HAPPENED AT AROUND 145 YESTERDAY MORNING ON EAST 99 FRONTAGE ROAD, NEAR HIGHWAY 99 AT ARCH STOCKS. POLICE SAY THAT MULTIPLE ARMED SUSPECTS WALKED INTO THE STORE AND THEY JUST STARTE

A man died after setting fire to a house during a standoff early Friday morning, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies responded to a domestic violence call to a neighborhood on the 7300 block of Arleta Court near Highway 99 around midnight. Six people, including the victim, were evacuated from a duplex, the sheriff's office said. A man who stayed inside barricaded himself inside, the sheriff's office said. Deputies negotiated with the man for about an hour when communications broke down and the man lit the house on fire.Deputies broke windows but were unable to remove the man from the burning building, the sheriff's office said. Firefighters arrived and were able to pull the unconscious man out before 2 a.m. They performed CPR and took him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said.
