The NBA has banned the Toronto Raptors' Jontay Porter for violating league gambling rules. An investigation found he bet on NBA games and gave other bettors confidential information about his health, then limited his participation in at least one game. Porter "won't be eligible for reinstatement," The Wall Street Journal says. It's the latest scandal since a U.S. Supreme Court ruling opened the door to legalized sports gambling and pro leagues embraced it. Even in this new order, it remains a "cardinal rule" for athletes not to bet on their own sport.
