ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Albemarle County Police Department is seeking the public’s help to find a suspect who allegedly robbed a Shell gas station on Ivy Road.

At around midnight on Thursday, April 18, officers with the Albemarle County Police Department responded to the Shell gas station in the 2200 block of Ivy Road for the report of a robbery that had just occurred.

When officers arrived, the victim reported that the suspect attempted to purchase alcohol. When the suspect was told that the clerk could not sell alcohol at the time, a physical fight occurred and the suspect grabbed the cash register till.

During this altercation, the suspect also removed his t-shirt and face mask. The suspect exited the location with a case of alcohol and the cash register, which police say contained about $180 in cash.

Police describe the suspect as being a Black man in his 30’s, who stands at around 5 foot 10 inches in height, and weighs about 200 pounds.

When he entered the store, police said the suspect was wearing a black t-shirt, shorts, and a gray mask on his face when entering the location.

Police released the following images captures on surveillance camera in an effort to identify the suspect.
