Major bank to close 18 more branches this year – full list of locations affected

A TOTAL of 18 bank branches are set to close their doors across the UK high street.
The Royal Bank of Scotland will shut the sites this year, with the earliest closure set for September.

Among those now earmarked to close are branches in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Leith, according to LINK which keeps track of any planned branch closures across the UK.
The bank has a total of 86 branches across Scotland, and the closures will lead to the loss of 105 jobs.
It comes after hundreds of building society and bank branches closed their doors for good already this year.
Customers are increasingly turning to online banking to manage their finances while banks and building societies look for ways to cut costs.

RBS, which is part of the NatWest group, isn't the only bank closing branches this year.
Throughout April alone, Barclays is shutting 23 branches while Lloyds is closing 12.

Meanwhile, 14 Halifax branches will close.
Most recently, NatWest confirmed it is going to close 47 branches in the coming months.

What you can do if your local bank branch closes
The vast majority of banking customers are moving online and don't need a physical branch as much as before.
But any closures can be an issue for others, particularly elderly people in rural areas who don't have access to the internet.
However, if your local branch is set to close, or has recently, you have some options.
You can carry out most basic banking tasks at your nearest Post Office.
You won't be able to apply for a loan or open a new bank account at once though.

Meanwhile, many banks offer a mobile banking service - where they bring a bus to your area offering services you can usually get at a physical branch.
