Worcester police investigating fatal shooting on Allendale Street

WORCESTER — A 24-year man was shot to death on Allendale Street early Saturday.

Officers were dispatched to the area about 2:15 a.m. after a report of gunshots. The victim was unconscious when located, with officers giving first aid until an ambulance arrived, according to police.

He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police released few details about the killing.

Allendale Street is near Murray Avenue, blocks from Main Street.

The shooting comes less than a week after three people were hit by gunfire on Clarkson Street. At least one of the victims remains hospitalized.

On March 5, a mother and daughter were shot to death as they sat in a car on Englewood Avenue.

On Feb. 12, a 17-year-old teen was shot to death on Shannon Street.

On Feb. 14, a woman was stabbed to death in an apartment on Douglas Street.
