For most kids and parents (and adults who just want to start their day off with a little bit of wholesome sunshine) their morning can't get going without a dose of Bluey magic – certain to keep you going much longer than a bowl of wheat bisks.

Now fans of the Heeler clan fear they will go hungry for more content as rumours swirl that the beloved cartoon is set to end with season three.

The debut of their latest episode 'The Sign,' has also added to the rising panic that this is the end.

The gorgeous 28-minute episode is the first of its kind, with previous episodes running at only seven minutes on average.

The practically-blockbuster special deals with themes of change and the acceptance of circumstances outside of our control as the Heelers prepare to leave their home and pack up for a new city.

Bluey has a hard time with the thought of leaving and the story charts her journey to acceptance.

If that doesn't sound like the creators are tee-ing up a grand finale, we don't know what does.

So is this the last time fans will be getting fresh new instalments or will there be more wackadoo adventures to come?

Will Bluey end with season 3?

No need to dive head-first into mass hysteria, Bluey producer Sam Moor has confirmed that the show will be returning for another season.

Moor made the announcement during an interview on BBC Radio 4's Today programme stating:

"No it is not the end for Bluey. I'm sure we have many more surprises in store for you," before adding:

"We are thinking what would be next."

Immediately next would be episode 50 of season three, 'Surprise!'. All we know is a brief plot description: "Bingo and Bluey want Dad to play two different games, so Dad tries to play both at the same time." There's no confirmed air time for that though.

Is Bluey taking a break after season 3?

While fans are no-doubt wagging their honorary tails in delight at news that this is not the end of Bluey, the creators did reveal that they would be taking a break after season three.

"We are just going to get our heads on a bit," producer Daley Pearson told The Courier Mail back in 2023 (via The Bump).

"It's been four or five years and we've made 154 episodes, it is kind of unprecedented to do that back-to-back."

He added:

"It was very intense… We are just coming to the end of season three and trying to think about what's the best way to make it better.

"We have all secretly agreed with each other that we wouldn't keep making Bluey if it wasn't as good as the one that came before, so we want to make sure we keep doing that."

"Part of it is just not pushing to come back. We are resting; the more we ask ourselves [when work will begin on season four], the longer it will be, which is why I hesitate talking about it too much."

As disappointing as this will initially sound to those ravenous for more Bluey content, fans can take solace in the assurance that when it does return it will be just as good, if not better than they remember.

When will Bluey return for season 4?

The good news is that according to the LA Times, production for Bluey season three wrapped way back in April 2022. It was then announced in July 2023 that the writers and producers would be taking a break.

Given that it has been two years since the team have worked on the show there is every reason to hope that production on season four will pick up sometime later this year.

All being well, fans could even expect Bluey to be back in 2025, which doesn't sound too bad.

If you're still impatient for more Bluey in your life you can bring some of the imaginative Heeler fun off the screen and into your kitchen with the new Bluey Gousto range complete with show-inspired activities for your littl'uns – and you.
