Man accused in stabbing shot and killed by deputies

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ)-- A man is dead, and one is in the hospital following an altercation that happened Wednesday morning.
In a release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 1:50 a.m. to investigate a stabbing in the 100 block of Gatewood Court in Cabin Creek.
Deputies responded to the location and found a woman seriously injured with multiple stab wounds at a neighboring home.
The woman was taken to the hospital, where she underwent surgery for injuries suffered in the stabbing. Deputies say she was in stable condition and remained hospitalized Wednesday night.
The release states that law enforcement was involved in a brief standoff with the suspect who was believed to be armed and refusing to surrender himself.
The suspect pointed a firearm out of the window of the home, and deputies fired their weapons at the man.
Deputies entered the home where the man was found dead.
No deputies were injured as a result of the incident.
Deputies say there is no threat to the public.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man is dead Wednesday morning from an officer-involved shooting. Kanawha County Chief Deputy Joe Crawford says they were responding to a stabbing call when they found a woman who had been stabbed. That’s when a man deputies say was involved ran inside a house with a weapon.
Crawford says deputies tried to get the man to come out peacefully. He didn’t, so deputies fired shots, killing the man.
The woman was taken to the hospital, but her condition is not known.
The Crime Scene Unit is gathering evidence from the scene, and we have a crew there working to learn more.

This happened in the Chelyan area of Kanawha County early Wednesday morning.
